Product Care
Wash less, wash cooler, dry flat. Most garments fail from over-washing long before they wear out.
General Principles
- Air a garment overnight rather than washing after one wear
- Wash at 30°C on a short cycle, inside out, with a mild liquid detergent
- Skip fabric softener — it coats fibres and kills absorbency
- Reshape while damp and dry flat or on a line, out of direct sun
- Never tumble dry naturals unless the care card says otherwise
By Fabric
Cotton
Machine wash at 30°C. Iron while slightly damp on a medium setting. Do not bleach.
Linen
Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Creasing is the point — press only if you want it crisp. Line dry.
Wool and Merino
Air rather than wash. When needed, hand wash cool with a wool detergent or use a certified wool cycle. Never wring; press water out in a towel and dry flat.
Silk and Blends
Hand wash cool or dry clean. Iron on the reverse at the lowest setting, with a cloth between.
Storage
Fold knitwear rather than hanging it — hangers stretch shoulders permanently. Store wool clean and sealed over summer; moths are drawn to the traces on worn cloth, not to the cloth itself. Use cedar rather than mothballs.
Repairs
Bring any SKIKT garment into a store, or start a repair at care@skikt.com. Buttons, seams and small holes are repaired free within two years of purchase. Beyond that we quote before we start.
