Fabric First

We start with cloth, not sketches. A season begins with mill visits and a shortlist of fabrics we want to build around — usually a handful of naturals with a long history of wearing well.

Once a fabric is chosen we specify it at the yarn stage: staple length, twist, finish and weight. It is slower than buying from a swatch book, and it is the reason our shirting still looks right after fifty washes.

Fit and Grading

Every style is fitted on a live model at the middle of the size range, then graded up and down and re-fitted at the extremes. Bodies are not linear, and a garment that only works at a sample size is not finished.

We hold each block across seasons so that a medium bought two years ago still sits beside a medium bought today.

Construction

• Side seams French-seamed or flat-felled on shirting
• Buttons stitched with a shank and back-tacked
• Reinforcement at pocket corners, vents and stress points
• Garment-washed before dispatch so what you receive is what you keep
